| Bio |

Gianluca Mainiero è un designer grafico e un fotografo. È di base ad Ancona, Italia. Nel 1987 si diploma in Tecnico della comunicazione visiva. Nel 1989 inizia a lavorare come designer grafico. Dal 1997 è visual designer e fotografo professionista e si occupa di comunicazione visiva e ricerca artistica. Dal 2013 è Fotografo Certificato Google Street View | Trusted.

Nel 2002 realizza la sua prima mostra fotografica personale (Trasmissioni, Ancona, Italia). Nel 2003 vince con Francesco Pirro (designer grafico e compositore) il Premio Pratomedialab del Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci di Prato (Italia) per The Harbour Project, opera di net-art basata su un lavoro di ricerca artistica sulla relazione tra immagine e suono. Nel 2005 viene nominato Testimonial Garante dell’Accademia di Belle Arti e Design Poliarte (Ancona, Italia) per meriti professionali e inserito nella Sezione Alumni dell’Albo d’oro d’Accademia. Nel 2007 partecipa con un progetto fotografico (Ancona marittima) al Festival del Viaggio di Pisa (Italia) e con un’opera audiovisiva (Blue, Dark), realizzata con la collaborazione di Francesco Pirro, al Festival Internazionale di Cinema Abstracta (Roma, Italia). Nel 2008 partecipa come Artista in Residenza al XXVIII Festival del Caribe di Santiago de Cuba. Il suo progetto artistico Nemo e io viene esibito nel 2009 nel corso della Rassegna d’Arte Contemporanea Nuove Sviste (Jesi, Italia) e nel 2011 presso l’Alexander Museum Palace Hotel (Pesaro, Italia).

Negli ultimi anni partecipa ad esposizioni collettive in Italia e all’estero. Le sue opere si trovano in collezioni private.

I suoi lavori più recenti vertono sulle caratteristiche della fotografia come medium legato al tempo e allo spazio, la percezione del presente come stratificazione della memoria, la riscoperta di identità personali dimenticate attraverso fotografie e album fotografici di famiglia ritrovati per caso. Si concentra principalmente su lavori di ricerca orientati al progetto e a lungo termine.

Attualmente Gianluca è impegnato su progetti artistici riguardanti la sua esperienza di essere umano e le personali modalità di affrontare, come artista e come persona, le conseguenze dei cambiamenti socio-economici, geopolitici, climatici e tecnologici in corso.

Gianluca Mainiero is a visual designer and a photographer. He is based in Ancona, Italy. In 1987 he graduated in Visual Communication Engineering. Since 1989 he has been working as a graphic designer. Since 1997 he has been a professional visual designer and photographer in the fields of visual communication and artistic research. Since 2013 he has been a Google Street View Trusted Photographer.

In 2002 he realized his first solo exhibition (Trasmissioni, Ancona, Italy). In 2003 he won with Francesco Pirro (graphic and sound designer) the Premio Pratomedialab Prize at the Luigi Pecci Contemporary Art Centre of Prato (Italy) for The Harbour Project, a net-art project based on an artistic research about the relation between image and sound. In 2005 he was appointed Warranty Testimonial at the Poliarte Design Academy (Ancona, Italy) for his professional merits. In 2007 he exhibited a photographic project at the Festival del Viaggio in Pisa (Italy) and an audiovisual work (Blue, Dark) with the collaboration of Francesco Pirro at Abstracta Cinema International Festival in Rome (Italy). In 2008 he worked as an Artist in Residence at the XXVIII Festival del Caribe de Santiago de Cuba. His artistic project Nemo e io was exhibited in 2009 at the Nuove Sviste Contemporary Art Exhibition (Jesi, Italy) and in 2011 at the Alexander Museum Palace Hotel (Pesaro, Italy).

In the last few years he has participated in group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His works are part of private collections.

His most recent works lie on the characteristics of photography as a medium related to time and space, the perception of present time as a stratification of memories, the rediscovering of forgotten personal identities through photographs and family photographic albums found by chance. He concentrates mostly on project-oriented and long term reaserch works.

Gianluca is currently working on artistic projects concerning his experience as a human being and his personal ways of dealing, as an artist and as a person, with the consequences of the ongoing socio-economic, geopolitical, climatic and technological changes.
